When you have a podcast, you in all probability really feel better figuring out that you’ve got extra people listening to your show. It’s nice to be able to have a larger group of viewers listening to you. Generally you might not know what it is that you must do to get these listeners. There are a variety of strategies that you need to use that may show you how to enhance the amount of people who hearken to your show.

The very first thing that you need to do is upload it to the podcast directories online. You should start with iTunes but also search for as many as you possibly can find. This will take you a variety of hours, however it’s easily worth doing it since you may be in view of people searching for podcasts to listen to. One trick that you must do is subscribe to your own individual podcast by means of all these companies as many will remove the listing in the event that they don’t have any subscribers. This trick will help to keep you listed.

Add your podcast to Youtube. You would probably suppose this isn’t one thing you should do since Youtube is a video site, but individuals do this with podcasts all of the time. There’s nothing unsuitable with just having audio on the site. Many on Youtube might be searching for content material like yours and can listen to it. Point the Youtube viewers to your podcast’s weblog or RSS feed.

Use Feedburner that will help you get extra subscribers. There’s one function in it that will allow individuals to submit their email and get your present updates through email. This is good since some folks aren’t sure of methods to use RSS feeds or learn how to subscribe to podcasts by way of applications.

Use the preferred social bookmarking sites and submit your podcast weblog to them. Many people will find you thru these since they use them every day.

Use graphics on your podcast’s blog that point in the direction of numerous methods to subscribe to your show. You have to use a Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, RSS, and e-mail to present visitors quite a lot of ways of getting your show’s content.

After editing, mixing and mastering hundreds of podcast, and seeing the same quality issues pop up again and again, I wrote this short guide to help new podcast producers produce better sounding podcasts and not make the same mistakes, which, once recorded, are difficult to fix.

These are most essential tips for recording any good podcast.

Format

Format is one of the most important yet most overlooked aspects of Podcast recording. I am amazed to receive Podcasts recorded in wav 8 bit, 8000khz, or worse on 32 KBps mp3! To give you an idea, this is like packing a chocolate pastry in a matchbox! Nothing much of the original will survive!

I always advice recording in wav format at 44,100, 16 bit. This format renders the best quality for size. But the file size can be huge (1 min recording =10 mb approx). But once it is recorded, a sound engineer can mix, master, eq and polish it up and reduce it a small 15 mb file, ready to upload. This way the saturation and quality of the source is maintained the most and all other process like noise reduction and Eq yield beautiful results. If you are recording in mp3, I would suggest a bit rate of 320 kbps, 44,100 at the least.

Placing the microphone

Placing the microphone or Miking is an elaborate science in itself. If the mic is too close to the mouth, it will cause pops, and bass boost, making the sound muddy or harsh. If it’s too far, the voice presence will suffer. It is always a good idea to record a couple of samples with different placements and see what gives the best results. Some basic do’s and don’t-

1. Keep the microphone as far away as possible from unwanted sound sources like CPU fans, A/c ducts etc.

2. Don’t place the microphone directly behind a wall. This will result is reflections and will make the voice echo.

3. Place the microphone directly in front of your mouth, around 4-8 inches away. You can also place the microphone a little higher then your mouth and point it downwards.

4. Always use a pop screen/filter to reduce the explosive breath sounds.

Levels

As a rule, the recording levels should never cross 0 db. A level higher then 0db causes nasty distortion in your recordings. The best way to avoid it is to do a sample recording and hear it back. Always monitor the levels on your recording software. Low levels can always be fixed, but distortion is nearly impossible to fix. My advice; don’t record at the maximum levels. Reduce them a little and always check that your recording has no distortion. Or better, if you can apply a compressor in the signal chain, it will take care of the peak levels.

Location

An acoustically treated room is the best place for recording. Though ideal, it might not be available to all podcasters. Never record in rooms which have lot of metallic furniture/items or a completely empty room. These will reflect the sound waves and will result in bad recordings. A room with carpet and wooden furniture is a better choice.
Make sure the location you choose has minimum ambient noises. Fans, exhausts, noisy CPU all contribute to broadband noise. Make sure that there are no phone ringing, the neighbor’s dog or the doorbell!

Happy recording!!

by Justine Curtis

Don’t be baffled by the terminology, podcasting is simply the production of audio content which people can download from a web page and listen to either through their computer or on an MP3 player like an iPod or mobile phone.

You don’t need any special equipment or training to record and produce a podcast and it is a great way of communicating because people can listen to it at their own convenience, wherever they may be. I often listen to them during a coffee break at my desk, or download a whole series to listen to while running or on a car journey.

The real strength of podcasts is they enable you to engage in such a powerful way with your audience. People who you have never met will hear your voice and connect with you in a way that is much more compelling than simply providing the same content in written form on your web site.

So how can you go about creating first class podcasts?

1. Know your material. It probably goes without saying but if you speak about a topic that you know inside and out, such as yourself or your area of expertise, you can give people real value.

2. Know your audience. Who are you aiming your podcast at; prospects, customers or a particular sector of your audience? What level of knowledge do they already have about your subject? Do your homework and know who you are speaking to so you can gauge their expertise so that you don’t talk down to them or above their knowledge level.

3. Be suitably prepared. There is a fine line when podcasting between being too prepared, so you sound as though you are reading from a script, or being under prepared so you go off at a tangent and end up far afield of your topic. Try to create an outline of points that you want to make, and talk confidently about them.

4. Don’t try to cover too much. You can choose to cover one or two topics in depth, or a few more in less detail. But don’t try to go into lots of detail on lots of topics as you risk confusing your audience. If you have lots of information to get across, break the podcasts down into a series so your listeners have time to digest one lot of information, before moving on to the next.

5. Cut out external noise. Make sure you turn off or divert all phones and computer sound alerts, the last thing you want is to record a perfect hour long session, only to have it interrupted by a new email alert! Also close your office window – lawn mowers, the neighbours dog or children in the garden all add background noise to your recording.

6. Get comfortable. Make sure your chair is comfortable and you are sitting comfortably, moving around while recording will be picked up so try and avoid it. Have a glass of water to hand and if you’re using a headset to record your podcast, I’d recommend a straw.

7. Introduce yourself. Podcasts often get passed around or downloaded and forgotten for a while before they are listened to so make sure you introduce yourself and your business, and give your web site URL. Also tell them the title or topic of the podcast and a brief outline of what you will be covering. If it’s in an interview format, don’t forget to introduce your guest in the same way.

8. Inject some personality. Be yourself. Yes, you are producing a professional podcast, but your listeners will be looking to identify with you too so relax and treat it as though you were talking to a handful of friends around a table. Don’t be afraid to inject a little self deprecating humour if that’s your natural disposition.

9. Close effectively. Don’t forget the purpose of your podcast, the reason why you are putting it together in the first place. If you are building your mailing list, give your listeners a compelling reason to sign up and give them the URL. If you are promoting a product or service, give them a reason to act now and again, give them the URL.

10. Say thank you. At the end of your podcast don’t forget to thank any guest speakers and also your listeners. Tell them again how to contact you and about any products or services that may interest them.

One word of warning, podcasting is addictive. Once you start you’ll end up recording everything. So get started now and you’ll soon have a whole range of information products in the form of podcasts, that you can sell or give away free from your website.

by Bob

When all the work you put in to producing your podcast, the last issue you may feel like doing is spending the time updating a web site as well. There are masses of services that can host your podcast episodes for you that don’t need any net administration on your part at all. Not having a web site dedicated, at least in part, to your podcast may be a crucial mistake. Here are 6 reasons why your podcast desires a website.

Brand Recognition
Episode Archive
Listener Interaction
Daily Updates
Humanize Yourself
Monetization
Brand Recognition

Building a successful podcast is not simply about putting out new content. If you would like to grow your audience and attract listeners, one in every of the simplest things you can do is produce, build, and nourish your brand. I pay a lot of time talking regarding the weather of a whole in this article. The web site for your podcast is your opportunity to drag the listener aloof from iTunes or Libsyn for a moment and introduce them to your brand. Who you are, what your podcast is about and all types of alternative parts that just do not translate into the podcast medium. Building complete loyalty among your listeners keeps them returning back for each new episode and will offer you a robust foundation in the even you ever, start a second or third podcast, or get into some other type of online venture.

Episode Archive

Over time you will accumulate a giant library of podcast episodes. For one reason or another you will find that you do not want iTunes to list all one hundred fifty of your podcast episodes in the directory. But, every day there are visiting be people finding your podcast for the first time and if they enjoy your podcast they are visiting need to be ready to travel back to the start and hear everything they have missed. Having a web site allows you to possess a central location where each single podcast episode you have made will be simply found by a brand new listener.
It can conjointly provide them the opportunity to explore all of the opposite content that you’ve got on the web site that they’ll not have otherwise been exposed to if the only interaction they have with your podcast is thru iTunes.

Listener Interaction

The website is another manner for you to interact together with your listeners. Whereas some members of your audience may not feel like leaving a voicemail or sending you an email directly, they could be willing to leave a investigate a post the realize on the website. The comments portion of your web site is another nice means for you to attach with and interact together with your podcast audience. It is conjointly a nice manner to remind all of your listeners, outside of the podcast, about all of the various ways that they’ll contact you: email, voicemail, etc.

Daily Updates

Typically there can be news or events connected to either your podcast topic or the podcast itself that is time sensitive. It may be that by the point your new podcast episode is released the information will not be applicable or you’ll have missed a deadline. The website may be a nice resource for immediate interaction along with your audience to let them grasp what is happening now.
Additionally, there could be some things happening in your niche that may not be applicable to your podcast topic but is something that you know your listeners will be interested in. A quick post on the website to allow them to grasp what is going on could be a nice add-on price to your podcast.
One word of caution regarding this utilization of your website. The identical rules for your podcast hold true with the website. If it is not good quality content that provides something of benefit to your user then it doesn’t go on the website. If people who frequent your web site find it increasingly stuffed with garbage then they can stop visiting the site. Invariably be certain to make your website posts interesting with your own added price to keep them returning back for more.

Humanize Yourself

Depending on the nature of your podcast or your podcast topic, you may find it exhausting to simply be yourself sometimes. It may not fit your podcast to be silly or sarcastic throughout the course of the episode. The website may be a great probability to humanize the podcast host for the listeners. Step out from behind the microphone and be someone, not a podcast host.
Provide your audience a transient update on how you’re doing personally that week. If you’re having a arduous time obtaining motivated to place out a brand new episode, tell them, higher yet tell them why. If you saw something that created you think that of an email you got from a listener or one thing you said in an exceedingly previous episode, bring that up to.
You may even use the website to administer the listeners additional insight into who you are personally that they may never get to determine in the course of the podcast. Connecting with our audience on a person’s level can provide them that rather more appreciation for you after you retreat to behind the microphone as the podcast host.

by Laurence Camacho

If you’ve listened to a few podcasts you may have been struck with the idea, “Hey, I’ll bet I could do that!” Doing your own podcast isn’t hard, but where some people get stuck is right at the very beginning…

“What should my podcast be about?”

There are two ways people usually go about choosing a topic. The first way is to choose something you really love — something you’re very passionate about. This can make a podcast that’s really enjoyable to create as well as to listen to. The problem comes in when you decide that it might be a great idea to make some money with your podcast (whether to help pay for hosting or to use for pizza) and you find out the topic you’ve chosen is too small to really make any money.

The other way to choose a topic is to go to the other end of the spectrum, and to do some research on niches that make a lot of money. Some of the obvious topics are health, golf, mortgages, etc. There’s money to be made in those niches. But there’s a problem with deciding to do a podcast on mortgages if you’re just in it for the money…

…after a few episodes you’re likely to experience what’s known in the industry as “podfade” — that’s when a podcast just… kind… of… goes… away.

Because even if the niche has the potential to make a lot of money, if it’s not something you’re interested in, it’ll become a drag to create another episode.

So the best way to choose a topic is to go somewhere in the middle. Find a topic you’re interested in, but which also has the potential to make some money. (Note: In just about any topic there’s usually ways to monetize a podcast, but here I’m talking about the easiest and most sure route).

Let’s say you really love collecting root beer bottle caps — it’s your passionate hobby. Starting a podcast with that theme is probably not the best idea — at least, not if you want a good chance at monetizing your podcast in the future.

Instead, move more toward the middle of the road and maybe do a podcast for collectors of all kinds. Even though you collect root beer bottle caps and someone else collects agates, you both have a common passion — collecting. You can now do a podcast that will appeal to collectors of all types — you’ve broadened your market tremendously.

And on the other end of the scale, if you’re starting your own podcast to monetize it right off the bat, choose a topic with money-making potential, but that is also of interest to you. For example, if you like to work around the house you could do a podcast about home improvement. And people who repair their homes are sometimes interested in home mortgages, so there’s a way you can tie that big “money-maker” niche into a niche about which you’re really passionate.

There’s nothing wrong with starting a podcast that you never monetize — a lot of people get into podcasting for the sheer fun of it and to connect with others who have similar interests. But if you are going to want to monetize your podcast, the time to think about that is at the very beginning, when you’re just getting started.

by keyword research tool

You probably have heard all these terms an awful lot lately. You wonder about what these technologies do? What value to they provide? If you aren’t up to speed on these new applications and how they are impacting retail online interaction then read this brief further.

Will these technologies impact you? To be honest, it’s too early to tell – but awareness drives innovation and maybe your team will develop an idea/application that truly changes a portion of your eCommerce business.

Here’s the rundown:

Blogs

What it is:

Probably the most well known of the three, blogs allow everyday people to quickly develop a website and distribute any type of content that they desire. Many web entrepreneurs use this functionality to develop online stores within niche markets, while using search popularity to beat out larger retailers on the specific terms within the market.

Where Blogs make make sense is within targeted online communities. Certain blog authors develop a large base of specific visitors, hence the site becomes a target market for viral marketing. By integrating your brand image within the site experience at that SPECIFIC blog, you as an online marketer are able to truly segment your marketing PRIOR to converting someone as a customer.

Should you care:

If you have a very unique value proposition, or sell to a very specific or high-value customer segment, blogs can be a great way to increase overall brand awareness. You can better connect with your customers and provide detail into the current sales/promotions that you are providing.

Podcasting

What it is:

Pocasting should be just called mobile video broadcasting – Apple’s marketing/development team did a great job with branding their device to a type of emerging media! Similar to traditional radio and television, mobile video broadcasting delivers branded content in either a paid/free environment, on someone’s mobile MP3 player (Apple only does video currently, but that will change shortly). Retailers can use this communication channel to further connect to their customers with promotional events, while transmitting specialty programming to meet an interest need.

Should you care:

Not really. Until video podcasting penetration increases, it’s still a limited channel for advertising. The best application available right now would be an online content segment that is digitally delivered to an opt-in list. As technology advances, you can potentially do this from your current opt-in page from your website and not from Apple’s iTunes platform.

RSS

RSS stands for Real Simple Syndication and is a method for electronic content distribution. RSS is transmitted via the internet, but what makes it unique is that no downloading efforts are needed by the end receiver of the content. It streams instateneously. Consumers can have news readers on their computers, either integrated into an emal client, or an aggregated web application such as News Gator, and are able to get information relating to their interests.

Already gaining steam in the travel industry and within comparison shopping engines, RSS seems to be a valuable way to push news, offers, and infomrmation to customers. Travel companies are able to provide a streaming supply of last minute airfare offers to their customer segments, without that customer having to open an email or visit a webpage.

Should you care:

Depends on the nature of your business. Do you consistently offer new prices? Do you get new pieces to your assortment consistently? Do you have a customer base that is extremely loyal that you want to reach out to with messaging? If so, RSS may another channel to help build your brand.

by S. Housley

Regardless of the size of your business, or whether your company is public, private, a government agency, or a non-profit… there is little doubt that you should consider podcasting. Podcasting is a 21st century medium, and has proven that it is far more than just a passing fad.

What is podcasting?

Podcasting is a relatively new communication medium. Podcasting’s increasing popularity and low cost of entry makes it a great communication and promotional channel for companies to experiment with.

Podcasting is online audio content, and sometimes video content, that is delivered via an RSS feed. You are probably asking yourself what is that, and why should I care? Like it or not, our world is becoming portable. The one thing you cannot buy is time; therefore, people are doing everything they can to maximize the time that they have. For example, commuting time, which was once wasted, can now become productive time via podcasting. Time spent waiting in a doctor’s office was once unproductive, but can now be used as catch up time for all sorts of things, including listening to podcasts. Technology and portability have come together to provide a solution to improving communication and productivity.

It is no surprise that businesses have adopted podcasting at a rapid rate. As podcasting has evolved, many businesses are using it as a marketing method as well as a communication channel. Podcasting is a relatively inexpensive medium to implement, and the potential of an expanded audience will appeal greatly to businesses that always seem to be struggling to get their message out.

Miscommunication and lack of communication have been long-time problems, and the source of an interminable amount of frustration for businesses, both large and small. The desire to become portable and to utilize time, balanced with the need to build and expand communication, has catapulted podcasting to the forefront of businesses, regardless of their size. Podcasts are effective at resolving both issues of portability and improved communication.

If your business struggles with consistent communication, take a look at podcasting as a possible solution.

Okay, so you’re a marketing expert but you haven’t yet embraced emerging technologies like blogs, RSS feeds, or podcasts. If you think these technologies are a passing fad, then think again. Today, major businesses and a significant number of marketing professionals are using these tools to influence, persuade, and encourage consumers to take action.

Let’s first begin by defining each technology and providing some information on how marketing professionals are using them.

Blogs

A weblog, which is usually shortened to blog, is a type of website where entries are made (such as in a journal or diary), displayed in a reverse chronological order. Blogs often provide commentary or news on a particular subject, such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. Most blogs are primarily textual although many focus on photographs, videos or audio. The word blog can also be used as a verb, meaning adding an entry to a blog.

Many marketing experts maintain their own blogs providing commnetary on everything from advertising to online marketing. Additionally, some marketing professionals are partnering with influencial bloggers to support specific products or businesses. This is very similar to an actor’s endorsement of a product or product placement initiative.

RSS

RSS is a family of web feed formats, specified in XML and used for Web syndication. RSS is used by (among other things) news Web sites, weblogs and podcasting. The abbreviation is variously used to refer to the following standards: * Really Simple Syndication (RSS 2.0) * Rich Site Summary (RSS 0.91, RSS 1.0) * RDF Site Summary (RSS 0.9 and 1.0)

Web feeds provide web content or summaries of web content together with links to the full versions of the content, and other metadata. RSS, in particular, delivers this information as an XML file called an RSS feed, webfeed, RSS stream, or RSS channel. In addition to facilitating syndication, web feeds allow a website’s frequent readers to track updates on the site using an aggregator.

With the power of RSS, those interested in your content can receive updates regularly. In fact, RSS allows for updates in real time. With the advent of aggregators, individuals can collect relevant information from various sources. When used to inform your prospects, customers, or stakeholders of valuable information, RSS feeds combine convenience with quality. Best of all, it lets the user be proactive and select the specific content he/she is looking for.

Podcasting

Podcasting is the method of distributing multimedia files, such as audio programs or music videos, over the Internet using either the RSS or Atom syndication formats, for playback on mobile devices and personal computers. The term podcast, like ‘radio’, can mean both the content and the method of delivery. The host or author of a podcast is often called a podcaster. Podcasters’ web sites may also offer direct download or streaming of their files; a podcast however is distinguished by its ability to be downloaded automatically using software capable of reading RSS or Atom feeds.

Usually a podcast features one type of ‘show’, with new episodes released either sporadically or at planned intervals such as daily or weekly. In addition, there are podcast networks that feature multiple shows on the same feed.

Those using podcasts successfully are providing audio feeds of “must-have” content for prospects and customers. Some of this content includes radio-type shows where industry experts respond to questions in a question and answer format. Such podcasts provide significant value to customers and give businesses the opportunity to serve as an ongoing resource for their industry.

In combination, Blogs, RSS feeds, and Podcasts can have a significant impact on those you are trying to reach. This is particulary true of today’s generation and part of generation Y. These are individuals who are comfortable with technology and depend on it for their news, information, and knowledge development.

If you are a marketing expert, marketing professional, or simply interested in new ways to communicate to your audience, then start to dable in these new technologies. Not only will they deliver immediate benefit, but they can generate returns over the long term as well.

If you look throughout our history, you will find that essentially, life is always about the same things. You are born, you grow and learn skills, build a family which you then need to provide for, grow old and die. Though the times may have changed with the advances in technology, and the process has varied somewhat, the general idea remains the same.

In the old days, when a man built a family, he provided shelter for it by finding a suitable place in which to live and provided food with which to nourish it by hunting and gathering. Little by little, the means to provide both these essentials has changed, but the essence once again remains the same. One must earn enough to provide a comfortable life for his family.

In most cases, earning can be relatively easy. You learn a skill then you utilize that skill to generate an income. Sometimes though, even though you may have developed exceptional skills, what you earn may not be enough. Because although earning an income may be easy, it’s earning big that is the difficult task. There are many ways to earn big in today’s money driven world, but how do you acquire the skills for it? There are numerous ways to learn big money skills and one of them is through podcast interviews.

What are podcast interviews you ask? In a nutshell, they are interviews with various business experts whose areas of specialty range from Internet Marketing to Trading and in these interviews they offer their tips and thoughts on how to go about those businesses with success in mind. For people like you and me, having the opportunity to learn from such esteemed individuals is a luxury, so let’s not waste this opportunity shall we?

Gurus like Ken Evoy, Daryl Guppy and Marty Rozmanith, just to name a few are some of the luminaries of the business world whose minds you able to get a glimpse of through watching these podcast interviews. If you want to start earning big, you’ve got to start to think big. And to do this why not learn from the masters.

2 Methods To Bring Hot Traffic To Your Site

1 Podcasting

Despite the simple fact that podcasting has been around for some time now, not many marketers are employing it yet; there’s nevertheless the newness factor associated with it, which performs nicely to your advantage. This is still a new age technology which can bring many targeted traffic for your door if only you would let them in. Here is really a brief look into how podcasting works.

Basically, podcasting is like having a radio channel of your own within the World Wide Web. You don’t have to bow down to any rules and regulations since none apply. You simply have your audio content which you might be beaming to plenty of folks within the online world. These men and women are your audience. They have, in truth, asked to be marketed. They wish to know about your goods. If you podcast to them, there is certainly a quite high chance that these persons will convert to being your visitors.

So why are these persons hot traffic for you? The cause behind that’s that podcasting runs only for people who have subscribed to your RSS feeds. When you put up an audio segment, those audio files automatically get downloaded on the audio devices from the individuals who have subscribed on the feeds.

You’ll need special application to produce a podcast. This computer software is merely identified as podcasting computer software of a podcasting mixer. Basically it truly is a tool that converts an audio file into a digital file that be downloaded over the internet. The following can be a list of two with the most popular podcasting software:

Podcast Studio

Using podcasting sets you apart from the usual breed of Net marketers. This is certainly an approach that you’ll need to seriously look at to enhance your prospects.

2 Viral Advertising and marketing

Viral marketing and advertising works because it tells potential buyers about the merchandise to ensure that they begin thinking seriously about buying the solution. It improves the recall value of a item and makes it a lot more visible. For the world wide web, an item that is certainly visible is really a hit.

Viral advertising and marketing is not just an Internet-based concept; it applies towards the real world also. Fundamentally, viral promoting happens when somebody who has used a product or service speaks about it favorably to an additional person. If you ever watch a movie and recommend it for your friend, you’re virally advertising the movie. Commenting on the Internet, in the event you post a favorable comment about your merchandise or a service, you’re virally advertising and marketing it. The truth is, within the Internet world, even in case you criticize a item, you’re virally marketing and advertising it. There’s a purpose behind that. Individuals start to identify the brand better. Whatever your comment is, positive or negative, it does one thing – it increases the recall value in the solution. The solution becomes a lot more searchable more than the net. Hence, viral marketing and advertising constantly increases awareness of the product or service.

All social networking web sites are avenues for virally marketing and advertising goods. Your blogs are places where your merchandise gets virally marketed. This also happens on forums and video and photo sharing web sites. Your articles are tools of viral market go to. So, you see viral marketing is not an isolated approach.
