2. Inconsistency – Be consistent with your marketing efforts. Have a set marketing system that you stick with instead of hopping from one system to another without giving the initial a good fighting chance. Determine how you spend your time: 90% of time spent on lead generation versus 90% of time spent on “getting ready to get ready”.
3. Information overload – There is an abundance of new and innovative internet marketing strategies that are being introduced everyday. Do not get caught in starting one method then starting another, and another, and another, and drop one and start another. Rather, just pick one system, learn it, master it, and stick to it until you are generating money from it before moving on to another method.
4. Choosing the wrong system – Choose the system that is appropriate for you based on skill level and marketing budget. Depending on what is chosen, anyone can lose their pants quickly and have still not have made any money. Pay-Per-Click (PPC), for example, can be infamous for this. If you are a internet marketing rookie who is part time, consider starting with marketing strategies that will not cost you anything.
5. Not following your program – It is great to get into the heat of passion and sign up for an affiliate program, network marketing, or any other type of creditable program to instantly make your millions but, it will never happen if 1) no action or inconsistent action is taken, 2) not following the guidelines/systems that were put in place for you from your chosen program, and 3) impatient that it has been 2 days/weeks/months and you are still not rich.
6. Not reprogramming your mindset – Dive into personal development because once you begin to see yourself correctly and reprogram how you think you will get the results you are looking for. Go to the library, check out different books, CDs, DVDs on personal development and have a hard/soft approach to it (e.g. listen to a cd on the law of attraction in the day and read a current marketing book in the evening).
When done correctly, earning money online can be life-changing. With laser focus, persistence, desire, faith, and education, all goals can be achieved. Thus, by knowing what not to do, your learning curve can be reduced, time and money can be saved, and fewer scars created.
