To begin to gain followers start by contacting and looking for friends. Then contact their friends and then their friends friends. Pretty soon you’ll find yourself amongst a lot of new groups of members and marketers. Your friends will start connecting you with their friends.
One other reason the networking is powerful is because you cant keep up with everybody on Skype or e-mail, With Twitter you can send quick messages and keep in touch much faster.
Marketing on Twitter has to be done carefully. One way to avoid directly marketing is to advertise in the background feature to the left and right of the main comments box and use the tweets for helpful and useful information. When using this method people will look at your ad in the free space to the left and right of the comments and if interested will find your link on the right. Most Twitter users do not use the background feature to their advantage. A free graphics editor can be used to modify the background images. This can help to increase click through to the URL of you choice.
Twitter can be great for a lot of things,Brand building, networking, hard selling. There can be a link back to your website, and your website should try to get them onto your mailing list for whatever topic you were tweeting about.(get them to opt-in and follow up)- this is a very powerful Twitter marketing strategy. You can post links to informative articles, video, blogs, people like the good content. If a member decides to follow you, many check your profile which has a website that leads directly to your website.
It is important who you choose to follow,If you add people who are mostly promoting their products, you will see only sales tweets and will waste time as they will be marketing to you. First, decide what you want to do with twitter. If you want to promote business, you will naturally have to follow more people (and most of them will be business promoters too).
If you want to build a community, add only those who tweet useful information, chat with other twitterers. Check other people’s tweets and see to that they don’t auto DM a link (mostly affiliate) when you follow them. If they do, you should unfollow them (if you don’t want people promoting stuff in your twitter time line) All you need to do is click on the spammer’s name, go to their page, and unfollow – it’s really quite simple.
It may take time but once you gain followers it can be a great place to be and Marketing with Twitter can prove to be very rewarding. More Twitter Marketing
